A cautionary tale of ‘Jalapeno Hands’

Thanksgiving..  I love Thanksgiving.  I love food, both to eat and to make.  My wife and I decided to make some Jalapeno Poppers, half peppers with cream cheese wrapped in bacon.  They look incredible. (I’ll update this post on how they taste a little later…)

We went to down, cutting and de-seeding jalapenos, filling them with cream cheese, and wrapping them in bacon.  All was well, we washed out hands, all minor..  About 2 hours past, I’ve noticed that my hands are still burning.  I thought to myself, I will go look on the Internet and I’m sure someone has an easy cure for this burning.   I was slightly disappointed to come across this blog only to find that there were dozens upon dozens of commenters also looking for a cure for ‘Jalapeno Hands’.

If anyone happens to know them, Im sure myself and hundreds of other unsuspecting victims of the wrath of the Jalapeno will be forever greatful.

Moral of the story: Wear gloves when working with hot peppers.

FYI: A poster on another board indicates a product called “Burts Bees Buttermilk Lotion” worked very well to remedy this! Untested by myself, mileage may vary.
